I'm starting to wonder if Kanda . . . might actually be an Akuma.

Type 1 Exorcists: Ordinary humans who are Accomadators. Failed attempts to create these produce Torngaoshi (I completely mispelled that).

Type 2 Exorcists: We don't know, but Kanda is one.

Type 3 Exorcists: Humans (Crow) that have been turned into Akuma.

We know the Black Order has ways of forcing Akuma to act against their programming. At least, Cross did and it's possible that other people can do so as well. Or Cross might have helped trying to create the Type 2s. We also know that Japan is almost entirely populated by Akuma (which raises the question of Kanda's background).

Of course, I'm probably completely wrong, and it will just turn out that Kanda's the only artificial Accomadator ever created, and he was just a human who General Tiedoll happened to rescue from Japan or something boring like that.
